BIOGRAPHY

Born to French parents, Frédéric Weber grew up in Montreal (Quebec).

Trained at the Vincent-D’Indy music school and Concordia University, he studied composition with Allan Crossman and harmony with Wolfgang Bottenberg. He also audited orchestration courses by Alen Belkin at the University of Montreal while continuing his self-taught learning.
Before dedicating himself to composing music for visual media, he was a member of several music groups, including Trans-X (a Félix award winner), Isinglass, and Kaplan Express (founded by Gérard and Ghylaine Kaplan, former members of Michel Fugain’s Big Bazar), as a keyboardist, arranger, and composer. After several years of performances, he began composing for choreographers of the new generation inspired by Jean-Pierre Perreault. Around 1985, he transitioned to creating music for film and television shows. He has composed music for numerous productions broadcast worldwide, including in Europe, Canada, the United States, and Asia.
He also composed the music for comedian Daniel Lemire’s show in 1996, as well as the music for the exhibition “Les Amuseurs” for the Just for Laughs Festival.

He has composed music for over 300 television shows, 30 films, and 6 ballets.

Frédéric Weber has twice received the SOCAN National Award, given to Canadian composers working in the film and television sectors. In 2021, he received the Diane Juster Award from the SPACQ Foundation for his involvement in copyright as a composer.
